IT IS SET 61 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE LOOKOUT CABIN AND 31-1/2 FEET NORTHWEST OF A LARGE FLAG POLE. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS A DISK BRAZED TO THE TOP OF A 3 INCH IRON PIPE PROJECTING ABOUT 6 INCHES AND IS STAMPED ELK MTN NO 1 1946. IT IS NORTH OF THE STATION AND 38-1/2 FEET SOUTH BY WEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE LOOKOUT CABIN. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS A DISK BRAZED TO THE TOP OF A 3 INCH IRON PIPE PROJECTING ABOUT 6 INCHES AND IS STAMPED ELK MTN NO 2 1946. IT IS WEST NORTHWEST OF THE STATION AND 43 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE LOOKOUT CABIN. THE AZIMUTH MARK FOR THIS STATION IS TRIANGULATION STATION RIVERS. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN ALPINE, WYO. GO SOUTH ON U.S. HIGHWAY NO. 89 FOR 1.6 MILES TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT LEADING UP GREYS RIVER AT GREYS RIVER INN. Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in January 1997.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
