Drove past this one yet again, on our way to a hike. Never there on Wed. morning for the ladies' pie sale, unfortunately; they sell out before we get back.

Guess it is time to claim this benchmark, just a half-mile from home.

Found it while out walking the tidal flats. It was quite beautiful with all the flowers in the field.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1934 (KGC) THE CHURCH HAS REMAINED THE SAME SINCE 1870 ACCORDING TO MRS. KATE PRAY WHO LIVES NEARBY. IT HAS A TALL WHITE SPIRE AND IS KNOWN AS THE THE SOMESVILLE UNION MEETING HOUSE. THE CHURCH WAS BUILT IN 1852.

IN 1934, IN GOOD CONDITION EXCEPT, IT IS ON THE E SIDE OF STATE HIGHWAY 102, IN SOMESVILLE, ABOUT 15 METERS E OF THE ROAD, HAS A BOARD WALK FROM THE HIGHWAY TO THE DOOR AND A SMALL HEDGE ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE LAWN.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in March 1998.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
