Relogging as part of the Spring 2009 Benchmark Contest.

Found as described nad recovered in good condition. RM1 was buried under a large snowpile and we did not search out the azimuth mark at this time.

The most southerly east-west sidewalk on the east side of the courthouse leading to the south entrance has a small painted yellow arrow pointing to the station.

Found as described. The mark is recessed below grade, but on my visit was easily accessible. RM 1 recovered (PN0076). RM 2 not found. I also did a brief search for the AZ mark at the described location. I did not find the mark, but did find a possible location for a mark, covered with some filler material to even out a recess in the sidewalk. It's about the correct size, and in the general location of where the AZ mark should be.

Enjoyed the warm sunshine to find some more local BMs. This BM was on the east side of the courthouse near a black pole located in close proximity to a big monument. It is recessed in the lawn, but quite visible.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in November 1991.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991. WARNING-Repeat measurements at this control monument indicate possible vertical movement.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
