Checked out the Capitol.

After decades of views and visits but I only recently realized the pioneer was also a benchmark.

My first benchmark! Really cool! Never knew about these!

Saw while in Salem.

The gold-leafed statue is definitely eye-catching. From the ground, it seems to be in good condition, ready to welcome visitors for years to come.

We live in Keizer, so we've seen the gold dude many times, from many angles.

Spotted this one while on your travels after the Block Party. With magtfPlanner and InxtricablFate

Spotted with EJ2007 and InxtricablFate on a 2011 GroundSpeak Block Party road trip ! Really odd to see 2 benchmark designations for the same point but I'll take it ! Very cool statue on top of the capitol. What a shame to hear the original building burned down though ...

Saw today on this blustery winter day.... looks like dip and dots

I've saw it!

Found after attending a Potato Association of America conference at OSU in Corvallis and while heading back to Portland to catch my flight home. I was visiting from Davis, CA.

Found while geocaching in the area with Dancing Penguin and Rose Red.

According to the control data in the original data sheet, the position of the statue has changed slightly since 1940 (or prior survey data was corrected). In any case, since this older version of this benchmark (QE1939 being the newer one) is still active, I'll double my points and log both of them.

Fourth of six finds for the afternoon before the SAGA Holiday Event.

Found while caching in the area.

Saw this one from afar while finding a letterbox this morning.

Actually made the climb to the statue a while ago.

Golden Boy!

Sparkly, Tall and Man even in the gloominess of an Oregon winter.

We've been here many times and today we realized we could claim a benchmark (along with QE1939). Granddaughters played Christmas music here today .

We see this almost everyday. Saw him again today with Ornith, Queens Blessing, and SpencerSB.

Ornith just shared this benchmark with me. I've seen it so many times, and did not know it was classified as a benchmark.

Who hasn't seen it? Great building though.

Interesting. Same intersection station with two PID #'s. Wonder how NGS did that?

I visited the Oregon State Capitol grounds on a very cold, cloudy afternoon.

Pretty cool benchmark, and a 2-fer-1 even, nice! Unusual architecture for Oregon, which I don't normally associate with large, Modernistic concrete buildings from the 30s. Sation appears to be in excellent condition.

Visited the Golden Pioneer today with the family. 121 steps up, and worth every one on this nice clear day!

Found with QE1939. Took the tour to the observation deck around the 23-foot Golden Pioneer statue. It is bronze covered in gold leaf. See http://www.oregonlink.com/goldenpioneer/ for its history.

Humm.... two benchmarks for the price of one.

good condition and well maintained, very visible.
