DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1985 23.6 KM (14.65 MI) EAST FROM RHINELANDER. 23.6 KM (14.65 MI) EASTERLY ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 8 FROM ITS JUNCTION WITH ONEIDA AVENUE IN RHINELANDER, IN THE CENTER OF THE NORTH END OF A 50 BY 150 FOOT EXPOSED AREA OF OUTCROPPING BEDROCK, 46.0 M (150.9 FT) WEST OF THE CENTER OF COUNTY ROAD V, 18.2 M (59.7 FT) SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 16.8 M (55.1 FT) WEST OF UTILITY POLE NUMBER S46, AND 10.1 M (33.1 FT) EAST-SOUTHEAST OF TELEPHONE JUNCTION BOX NUMBER 1 N 40. THE MARK IS 0.2 METERS W FROM A WITNESS POST THE MARK IS 0.6 M ABOVE THE HIGHWAY.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
