Found this while geocaching today.

My first benchmark. I have a few geocaches in this park.

photoCap

Found today while caching, this is the second MRC cap I have found wasnt sure it would be in the database. There must be some weird Photo block on this area I could not get a decent photo of this cap either.

it is in great shape

I went back to try to get better photos. I'm still not happy with the area view, but the other two are definitely improvements.

The large bent pipe that was near the witness post and cap is no longer there.

Area view. Looking south towards the mark from 19 feet away. Cap is directly in front of witness post. Field road mentioned in description goes from right center of photo to center background.

In good condition.

I thought this mark was the cap and bolt, not just the cap. When I got there, I couldn't figure out how to get the cap off. I didn't want to damage it.

The pipe projects 5 inches above ground, not 15. The mark is about 28.3 ft. NE of the centerline of a field road and 0.7 ft. NNW of a witness post. Mississippi River Commission cap marked 1898 P.B.M.

I don't have the ability to accurately measure from the house or the river.

My coordinates: N 45º 43.773 W 094º 12.881.

found this one while out for a bike ride through the park.

found on the way to big bend box cache!

Found while going to the cache here. nice park.

Visited this BM while seeking the Big Bend River Box Cache. It was plainly visible in the field and looked like the pipe had been bent. Shot a quick photo and went on to the cache. The Ethel Graves farm is a 100 year old farm Benton County received over $700,000 in Regional Park and Natural and Scenic Area grants for acquisition and is in the planning stages for development. The park has Mississippi River frontage and borders a 220-acre DNR Wildlife Management Area.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
