THE STATION MARK IS A BRONZE STATION DISK SET IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK AND IS STAMPED KINNEY 1945. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS NNW OF THE STATION IN A 3- BY 4-FOOT BOULDER THAT PROJECTS 3 FEET. IT IS 17 FEET SW OF THE NW CORNER OF A LOOKOUT HOUSE AND 21.1 FEET SSE OF A 12-INCH PINE TREE. IT IS A BRONZE REFERENCE DISK SET IN A BOULDER, STAMPED KINNEY NO 1 1945, AND IS 18 INCHES BELOW THE STATION. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS SE OF THE STATION AND 22.4 FEET ESE OF THE SW CORNER OF A LOOKOUT HOUSE. IT IS A BRONZE REFERENCE DISK SET IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK, STAMPED KINNEY NO 2 1945, AND AT ABOUT THE SAME LEVEL AS THE STATION. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS SE OF THE STATION IN A 30- BY 48-INCH BOULDER THAT PROJECTS 3 INCHES. IT IS 97 FEET WSW OF THE CENTER LINE OF ROAD, 60 FEET E OF A LIMESTONE OUTCROP, 45 FEET BELOW CREST OF RIDGE, AND 25 FEET WNW OF ONE LARGE AND TWO SMALL PINE TREES. IT IS A BRONZE AZIMUTH DISK SET IN A BOULDER AND IS STAMPED KINNEY 1945. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE DARLAND HOTEL IN CUPRUM, GO NE 0.8 MILE TO A Y AND SIGN READING LOCKWOOD SADDLE 5, HORSE MTN. L.O. 6, HELLS CANYON VIEW. TAKE LEFT FORK 4.8 MILES TO A T-ROAD LEFT, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD 2.3 MILES TO A T-ROAD RIGHT AND SIGN READING SOUTH PEACOCK MINE 1/2 MILE. RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1966 (CAA) NOT FEASIBLE TO MEASURE BETWEEN REFERENCE MARKS. STATION MARK, REFERENCE MARK 2, AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED AND FOUND TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION, REFERENCE MARK 1 WAS NOT RECOVERED AND BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN DESTROYED WHEN THE LOOKOUT HOUSE WAS REMOVED FROM THE STATION SITE. REFERENCE MARK 3 WAS ESTABLISHED. A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOW-- STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 5-1/2 MILES NORTH OF CUPRUM ON THE WEST END OF A RIDGE KNOWN AS KINNEY POINT. TO REACH FROM CUPRUM, GO NORTHEAST ON GRAVEL ROAD FOR 1.0 MILE TO FORK AND SIGN SHEEP ROCK ROAD, TAKE THE LEFT FORK AND GO 4.8 MILES TO FORK AND SIGN LOCKWOOD SADDLE, KEEP THE RIGHT FORK AND CONTINUE FOR 2.4 MILES TO FORK AND SIGN KINNEY POINT .5, TAKE THE LEFT FORK AND GO 0.2 MILE TO FORK, KEEP LEFT AND CONTINUE FOR 0.2 MILE TO A CLEARING AND AZIMUTH MARK ON LEFT, CONTINUE FOR 0.4 MILE TO A CIRCLE DRIVE AND END OF TRUCK TRAVEL.   • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in July 1992.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
