The lookout keeper spotted us looking for the nearby geocache, and invited us up to visit for a few minutes. Wonderful!

visited inside the tower with the renters who let us warm by there wood stove.

Tower was in great shape.. Wish they all were this nice. The nice lady that was staying in the tower pointed us to a very cool vantage point to the south west where we had lunch.

Spent the weekend in the Badger Creek Wilderness, hiked up to check out the lookout. Still in good condition.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1946 (CAG) LOCATED ON THE SUMMIT OF FLAG POINT IN THE MT. HOOD NATIONAL FOREST. IT IS A 40 FOOT WOODEN TOWER.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1947 (WRH) THE STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE FOREST SERVICE LOOKOUT TOWER WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE SUMMIT OF FLAG POINT IN THE MT. HOOD NATIONAL FOREST. IT IS LOCATED ABOUT 15 MILES NORTH OF THE BEAR SPRINGS GUARD STATION AND 12 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF THE SUMMIT OF MOUNT HOOD. THE STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE LOOKOUT TOWER WHICH IS ABOUT 90 FEET IN HEIGHT AND HAS A PEAKED ROOF.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in October 1991.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
