Found in good condition with BlueMoth

Recovered in good condition. Our Garmin nuvi 760 GPSr gave the coordinates as N 45° 39.072 W 123° 16.555 (with “19 foot accuracy”).

Differences from, and additions to, the 1962 description:
- There is no longer a post office in Glenwood.
- It is “Gales Creek”, not “Gale Creek”.
- The mark is 13 feet southwest from the centerline of the road and 12 inches higher than the road surface.
- The mark is 7.7 feet northwest from a green sign that says: “Washington County Bridge 1388”.
- The mark is 0.6 feet northwest of the southeast corner edge of the bridge footing.

The disk can be seen on top of the concrete footing for the guardrail.
photoRD0689 - looking northwest –wide.
The disk is on top of the footing on the left side of the photo and has a wad of fluorescent pink surveyor’s tape on top of it (the pink tape is barely discernible in the photo).
photoRD0689 – Looking southeast.
The disk has fluorescent pink surveyor’s tape wadded up on top of it.

My gps shows coordinates should be N45 39.075 W 123 16.556

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
