Found with with BlueMoth.

Recovered in good condition. Our Garmin nuvi 760 GPS reported the coordinates as: N 45° 35.951 W 123° 30.070 (with “20 Foot Accuracy”).

We found the mark 40.2 feet northwest of the painted centerline of the Wilson River highway, 1 foot southeast of a metal witness post (white “U.S.B.M. sign) and 0.8 feet northeast of an older wooden 4”x4” square witness post (with the letters “U” and “S” still barely visible).

The white witness post can be seen on the right side of the photo. The wooden post is just to the left of the white post (but is much harder to see).

Recovered in good condition. Malnut and I just saw the witness post from Highway 6 and stopped to to get it. I don't know how Power Squad missed it.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
