The previous logs were very helpful in finding this benchmark.

Recovered in good condition per the 1990 description (with some exceptions noted below).

Changes to the 1990 description:
- We found the mark at 43 feet north of the painted centerline of 181st street.
- The disk is 2.0” diameter.

Additions to the 1990 description:
- The mark is 25.7 feet northwest (~309°) from a ½-inch diameter rod property corner marker. The logo on the rod cap is marked : ”OLSONENG PLS17686”
- The mark is 4.3 feet south-southwest from a metal post with no sign.
- The mark is in a 5 inch diameter concrete monument that is flush with the ground on one side and a few inches above the ground on the west side.

(Our Garmin nuvi 760 GPSr gave the location of this mark as: N 45° 45.208 W 122° 31.024 (with “19 Foot Accuracy”) ).

photoRD4281 - Looking northwest.
We placed an orange marker on top of the disk. It can be seen towards the right side of the photo just to the left of the witness post.
photoRD4281 - Looking approximately north.
Looking across 181st street. We placed an orange marker on top of the disk (indicated by the arrow).

Back again, this time I got photos. Took GPS reading but accidentally lost them.

This reminds me...I need to go golfing.

At the golf course for a meeting. Went searching for this close benchmark during a break.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in April 1995.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
