DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1980 8.2 KM (5.1 MI) NW FROM OROFINO. 8.2 KILOMETERS (5.1 MILES) NORTHWEST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 12 FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 7 IN OROFINO, 0.2 KILOMETER (0.1 MILE) WEST OF THE JUNCTION OF A ROAD LEADING SOUTH, 0.2 KILOMETER (0.1 MILE) EAST OF THE EAST ENTRANCE TO A LARGE HIGHWAY PULLOUT, SOUTH ACROSS THE HGHWAY FROM THE WEST ONE OF TWO BLACK WALNUT TREES, AT HIGHWAY MILEPOST 39, SET IN TOP OF A ROCK OUTCROP IN A BEDROCK HIGHWAY CUT, 13.4 METERS (44.0 FEET) SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 57.0 METERS (187 FEET) WEST OF THE MILEPOST, 1.2 METERS (4.0 FEET) ABOVE THE GROUND. THE MARK IS 0.35 METERS N FROM A WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS 0.6 M ABOVE THE HIGHWAY.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
