TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN POMEROY, GO EAST ON U.S. HIGHWAY 410 FOR 0.5 MILE TO THE JUNCTION WITH STATE HIGHWAY 128. TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTHERLY ON HIGHWAY 128 FOR 7.9 MILES TO A POINT WHERE HIGHWAY 128 TURNS LEFT AND A GRAVELED ROAD CONTINUES STRAIGHT AHEAD (THIS IS USFS ROAD N911). CONTINUE SOUTHERLY ON USFS ROAD N911 FOR 15.4 MILES TO THE CLEARWATER LOOKOUT TOWER ON THE RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO WEST FOR 0.05 MILE TO THE TOWER AND THE STATION. TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK, GO NORTH ON USFS ROAD FOR 0.1 MILE TO THE MARK ON THE RIGHT. STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED CLEARWATER 1964, SET IN THE TOP OF A 12 INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POST FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 20 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST LEG OF THE LOOKOUT TOWER AND 20 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE SOUTHWEST LEG OF THE LOOKOUT TOWER. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED CLEARWATER NO 1 USFS 1963, SET IN THE TOP OF A 12 INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 3 INCHES. IT IS 252 FEET SOUTH OF THE SOUTHEAST LEG OF THE LOOKOUT TOWER AND ABOUT 5 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED CLEARWATER NO 2 USFS 1963, SET IN THE TOP OF A 12 INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 2 INCHES. IT IS 260 FEET WEST OF THE SOUTHWEST LEG OF THE LOOKOUT TOWER AND ABOUT 10 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION. AZIMUTH MARK IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED CLEARWATER USFS 1963, SET IN THE TOP OF A 12 INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 5 INCHES. IT IS 160 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF A GRADED ROAD AND 2.5 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A WITNESS POST. CLEARWATER L.O. (USFS) IS A BRONZE DISK, STAMPED CLEARWATER L.O. 5660 1936, CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN A 1 X 1 FOOT ROCK OUTCROP FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS NEAR THE CENTER OF THE BASE OF THE LOOKOUT TOWER. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 30 METERS.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in December 1991.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
