Benchmark is down the pipe. A light source is needed to see it.

Found while filling up with gas on the way home from Lutsen.

There is no items in this cache. The pole was empty when I took off the lid

Nice day for a find

Easy to find once I knew to look for it!

Verified: Still inside the 6" PVC pipe, still in poor condition.

What a mess. On the other hand, it is very, very old.

Find while out Geocaching.

N 47° 38.835 W 090° 40.483

Found in poor condition. It's about 3 feet down inside a covered PVC pipe in a pile of rocks. You can still see the center mark, but the physical condition of the disk looks bad. The stability is doubtful.

The following has been submitted to NGS:

NOTE--THE ROD IS ENCASED IN A 6-INCH PVC PIPE WITH COVER. HH2 COORDINATES N47 38 50.1, W090 40 29.0.

Looking 15 feet north. Telephone pole and witness post (top of rocks, right of gas pump) visible. Mark is inside PVC pipe with lid.

found this hidden gem while looking for a cache

Found this after grabbing a neary cache. What a nice day to be out!

Caching with WBBOB and K-3 up the North Shore to Grand Marais and a cache just happened to be feet away.

Found this one when we were placing our first cache! Hooray!

photoA little bit dirty...
Difficult to see to the bottom... so we were using our wiles and tried to take a photo--this proved to be challenging also!

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
