DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1949 (MJT) STATION IS ON THE TOP OF THE WEST BLUFFS OF THE MISSOURI RIVER, ABOUT 6 MILES SOUTH AND 8-1/2 MILES EAST OF VIRGELLE, IN THE NORTHWEST QUARTER OF SECTION 16, T. 25 N., R. 13 E., AND ON LAND OWNED BY MR. ALBERT TONNIE. IT IS 5.9 FEET SOUTH OF A WITNESS POST. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN FORT BENTON, GO EAST ACROSS THE BRIDGE OVER THE MISSOURI RIVER AND CONTINUE EAST FOR 7.6 MILES TO A FORK, KEEP LEFT AND CONTINUE EAST FOR 13.7 MILES TO A T-ROAD, TURN LEFT AND GO NORTH AND EAST FOR 4.9 MILES TO A CROSSROAD, TURN LEFT AND GO NORTH FOR 3.85 MILES TO A T-ROAD, TURN RIGHT AND GO EAST FOR 2.5 MILES TO A GATE AT LEFT, TURN LEFT THROUGH GATE AND GO NORTH FOR 1.1 MILES, TURN RIGHT WITH ROAD AND GO 0.25 MILE TO ANGLING CROSSROAD, TURN LEFT AND GO NORTHEASTERLY 0.45 MILE TO GATE, PASS THROUGH GATE AND GO 0.15 MILE TO ANOTHER GATE, PASS THROUGH GATE AND CONTINUE NORTH FOR 0.9 MILE TO THE END OF THE FENCED LANE, HERE TURN RIGHT FOR 0.05 MILE, TAKE LEFT FORK FOR 0.8 MILE TO A GATE, PASS THROUGH GATE AND FOLLOW TRACK ROAD FOR 1.2 MILES TO A FORK, KEEP LEFT FORK AND GO 1.3 MILES PASSING TO LEFT OF CORRAL AND RIGHT OF DAM TO THE BLUFFS OVERLOOKING THE RIVER AND STATION SITE. STATION MARK PROJECTS 6 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED WHITE 1949. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 PROJECTS 6 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED WHITE NO 1 1949. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS 43.3 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A WITNESS POST. THE MARK PROJECTS 6 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED WHITE NO 2 1949. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS APPROXIMATELY 0.3 MILE NORTHWEST OF THE STATION AND 2 FEET SOUTH OF A WITNESS POST. THE MARK PROJECTS 8 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED WHITE 1949. TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK FROM THE STATION, GO WEST 0.2 MILE TO THE TOP OF THE BLUFF, TURN RIGHT ACROSS COUNTRY 0.1 MILE TO THE TOP OF A SMALL KNOLL AND THE AZIMUTH MARK. ALL MARKS ARE STANDARD DISKS SET IN THE TOPS OF 12-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE POSTS. A 4 FOOT STAND AT WHITE WILL SEE A 4 FOOT STAND AT SHEEP AND DOME.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in July 1992.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
