DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1949 14.1 MI E FROM LIBERTY. 9.1 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG THE BEEHIVE ROAD FROM THE POST OFFICE AT LIBERTY, THENCE 5.0 MILES SOUTH ALONG THE LION ROCK LOOKOUT ROAD, 0.8 MILE WEST OF THE JUNCTION OF THE WILSON CREEK ROAD, AT LION ROCK LOOKOUT, 60.5 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE WEST LEG OF THE TOWER, 60.7 FEET WEST OF THE WEST CORNER OF A GARAGE, 52.6 FEET WEST OF THE STATION, 50 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE EDGE OF A CLIFF, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.5 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
