DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1940 (ANS) STATION IS ON SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN WHICH IS ABOUT 16 MILES N OF CASHMERE, AND ABOUT 13 MILES NE OF LEAVENWORTH, AND 138 FEET S BY E FROM THE NE CORNER OF THE U.S.F.S.L.O. HOUSE WHICH OCCUPIES THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE MOUNTAIN. STATION IS A STANDARD BRONZE DISK WEDGED IN A DRILL HOLE IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK. IT IS 80 FEET S OF THE SE CORNER OF GARAGE, ON THE E EDGE OF RIDGE LEADING TO THE LOOKOUT HOUSE, STAMPED SUGARLOAF 1940. NO WITNESS POST SET AT STATION. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS A STANDARD BRONZE DISK WEDGED IN DRILL HOLE IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK N OF LOOKOUT HOUSE AT THE S EDGE OF THE PROMINENT ROCK OUTCROP WHICH COVERS THE EXTREME TOP OF MOUNTAIN, AT SAME ELEVATION AS THE STATION, AND IS STAMPED SUGARLOAF NO. 1 1940. IT PROJECTS 2 FEET. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS A STANDARD BRONZE DISK WEDGED IN DRILL HOLE IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK, 68 FEET S OF SE CORNER OF GARAGE, PROJECTS 2 FEET AT SAME ELEVATION AS THE STATION AND IS STAMPED SUGARLOAF NO. 2 1940. STORMY MOUNTAIN LOOKOUT HOUSE IS TO BE USED AS THE AZIMUTH AT THIS STATION. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE ALPINE THEATRE IN LEAVENWORTH, GO E FOR 0.4 MILE. TURN LEFT AND CROSS THE RAILROAD TRACKS AT THE STANDARD OIL COMPANY TANKS. CONTINUE E ALONG THE N SIDE OF ROAD FOR 0.5 MILE TO FORK. TAKE LEFT FORK AND GO N FOR 1.6 MILES. TURN RIGHT AND GO E UP EAGLE CREEK ROAD FOR 5.9 MILES TO THREE FORKS. TAKE MIDDLE FORK AND E GO FOR 0.1 MILE TO ROAD LEADING LEFT (N) AT SIGN SUGARLOAF L. 0.12 MILES, TURN LEFT AND GO NORTHERLY FOR 1.5 MILES TO FORK. TAKE LEFT FORK AND GO 2.6 MILES TO TOP OF RIDGE. TAKE THE RIGHT FORK UP HILL AND GO 1.7 MILES TO THE TOP OF THE MAIN DIVIDE AT FRENCH CORRALS. TURN LEFT AND GO N ALONG THE RIDGE FOR 3.4 MILES. TURN RIGHT AND GO E FOR 0.5 MILE TO THE LOOKOUT GARAGE AND END OF TRUCK TRAVEL, ABOUT 100 FEET S OF THE STATION. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 1-1/2 METERS.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in December 1991.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
