This one is almost certainly gone, given the two obvious reference marks pointing toward a drill hole with no mark.

Reference marks 1 and 2 are in good condition and easy to find about 200 feet north of the lookout house. The station mark may have been 1 of 2 drill holes in a boulder near the center of the peak. The previous log pictures only show the reference marks, so I'm not sure when the station would have been removed.

Couldnt find the Granite Mountain cache so I settled for the benchmarks instead! Great, cool, foggy July day, me and the pup Jumar enjoyed the hike as usual!

Boo-yeah, found it. Helluva hike.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in December 1991.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
