On our way out from hiking north to China Basin we stopped at the picnic table for a rest. Lo and Behold as we took the trail south from there we spotted 2 benchmarks.

Found BM Werner. Marker is near old flagpole and original lookout tower site. New(1983) fire tower is nearby. This area has seen extensive burn damage.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in July 1992.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
