DESCRIBED BY US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1963 (DGS) STATION LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 17 MI. (AIRLINE) N. OF LIBBY, MONTANA, ON HIGHEST POINT OF BALDY MOUNT, CENTERED BENEATH LOOKOUT TOWER. TO REACH STATION FROM LIBBY MONTANA- TRAVEL SE. ON STATE HIGHWAY 37 0.8 MI., THENCE LEFT ON PIPE CREEK ROAD (PAVED) FOR 18.8 MI. TO BIG CREEK ROAD, TURN 90 DEGREES RIGHT AND FOLLOW ROAD E. 0.8 MI., TAKE RIGHT FORK ACROSS BRIDGE AND CONTINUE 2.8 MI. TO FORK. TAKE ROAD TO LEFT 2.0 MI. TO TOP OF RIDGE AND ROAD RIGHT. FOLLOW THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT UP THE RIDGE 1 MI. TO TOP OF MOUNTAIN AND STATION. STATION MARK- U.S. DEPT. OF AGRICULTURE FOREST SERVICE BRASS TABLET STAMPED -BC BALDY 1950- CENTERED UNDER LOOKOUT TOWER AND CEMENTED IN DRILL HOLE IN ROCK.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in July 1992.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
