Found this on the way to an event on Saturday. Totally unexpected.

Found while searching for a nearby geocache.

Recovered in good condition very near the entrance to Lincoln Park in Port Angeles. (Our Gamin nuvi 760 GPSr gave the location of the mark as: N 48° 06.815 W 123° 28.724 (at “17 foot accuracy”).)

Differences from the 1974 description are:
- Not sure if the adjacent road is still considered State Highway 112 – signage and maps refer to it as Lauridsen Blvd.

  • The mark is no longer 10 feet west of the Lincoln Park sign post. That sign is gone. There is a new park sign on the other side (east side) of the park entrance.

  • The “Power line pole with guy wire” is gone.

Top of photo is roughly northwest.
photoTR0774 – looking approximately north-northeast.
The arrow indicates the location of the mark. You can also see the witness post just to the left of that.

Found at the entrance to Lincoln Park.

Found this trying to get a Mountain Shadow cache. Got their cache too.

Easy to find - sign points right to it!

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
