Yep. It is there. Vandals have been here but the designation is still readable. The two sixes are damaged but still there.

Recovered. Found it as described in the 1974 description with only two changes:

  • The mark is 4.0 feet southeast of the southeast face of the wooden retaining wall.

  • The disk is more than 2 feet above the ground. It is 3 to 4 feet above the ground (somehow we forgot to take the exact measurement (grrr)).

We did not check the “19.1 feet south of the south corner of the wooden pier” measurement.

We did find a picnic area where the description says that “picnic area 2” should be - however, we did not see any sign specifically labeling it as “#2”

The other items in the 1974 description are still accurate.

Our Garmin nuvi 760 GPSr gave the coordinates of the mark as: N 48° 02.426 W 123° 01.542 (with “20 Foot Accuracy”).

The "J 466" stamping is readable in person (just barely) and is difficult to read in the photo.
photoTR0863 – Looking down on top of boulder at mark.
photoTR0863 – Looking approximately east-southeast.
Disk can be seen between bottom two horizontal 2x4s of the guardrail.
photoTR0863 – Looking roughly west-northwest.
Red and white open-reel tape measure is sitting directly on top of the disk at the top of the boulder on left side of photo.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
