Today the Arcadia stopped in San Francisco. Since we will be here overnight, we decided to head south from the ship's pier this afternoon. We grabbed several caches and benchmarks along our route. We put several miles on our shoes today so it will be nice to have a swim and relax back on the ship before heading to Alcatraz tomorrow. Greetings from Toronto, Canada -TFTC

a week in the bay area and around. very nice time on the west coast.
For sure did some touristic spots as well some not so common one.
Thanks to NGS it was possible to see enjoy also path outside of touristic main stream and get a feeling of this area.

The correct benchmark for this station is not the one pictured below. It is stamped:

Found ok using co-ords from previous finder. Description from survey sucks though. It's at the intersection of Kearney and Bay, not Kearney and Francisco.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1988 IN SAN FRANCISCO, AT THE INTERSECTION OF KEARNEY AND FRANCISCO STREETS, IN THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF AN EXTENDED FOUNDATION WALL OF A FOUR STORY PARKING GARAGE, 5.1 M (16.7 FT) SOUTH OF THE SOUTH CURB OF FRANCISCO STREET, 3.2 M (10.5 FT) EAST OF THE EAST CURB OF KEARNEY STREET, 0.8 M (2.6 FT) ABOVE A SIDEWALK, 0.7 M (2.3 FT) NORTH OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE BUILDING, AND 0.3 M (1.0 FT) SOUTH OF THE NORTH END OF THE FOUNDATION.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • This Tidal Bench Mark is designated as VM 8087 by the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
