Found hidden amongst lots of pipework on a lovely 7 degree day.

Found on vacation. It helps to be a local, since you have to drive down an alley to get to the benchmark. We are NOT locals, so we had to circle the building 2 times.

Found as described in good condition.NGS saw a round mark & metal about 20' down wall and didn't go to the 47.9 feet where disk was.

AT PUEBLO, PUEBLO COUNTY, AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF MAIN AND FIFTH STREETS, IN THE SOUTH WALL OF THE POST OFFICE BUILDING, 47.9 FEET WEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER, AND ABOUT 2 1/2 FEET ABOVE GROUND. A UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY STANDARD DISK, STAMPED 4668.511 AND SET VERTICALLY.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
