Found in good condition. Rock it is attahced to is broken in half, though, with no damage to the banchmark.

Recovered in good condition. There is a witness post at the bench mark. It was not in the previuos description in 1951. Found on my way home from work at 1830 hours.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1951 8.8 MI NW FROM PARKDALE. 1.3 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG THE DENVER AND RIO GRANDE WESTERN RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT PARKDALE, THENCE 1.6 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 50, THENCE 5.95 MILES NORTHWEST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 9, 45 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 35 FEET WEST OF THE NORTHWEST END OF A GRAVEL PIT, AT THE SOUTHEAST END OF A ROCK RIDGE, 8 FEET ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE HIGHWAY, 5 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND, SET IN THE TOP OF THE CENTER OF A 4X5 FOOT GRANITE BOULDER.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
