DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1984 17.3 KM (10.75 MI) WEST FROM CANON CITY. 17.3 KM (10.75 MI) WESTERLY ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 50 FROM ITS JUNCTION WITH STATE HIGHWAY 115 IN CANON CITY, IN A LARGE EXPOSED AREA OF BEDROCK IN A HIGHWAY CUT, AT A POWERLINE CROSSING, 1.0 KM (0.6 MI) NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST END OF A HIGHWAY BRIDGE SPANNING THE ARKANSAS RIVER, 40.0 M (131.2 FT) NORTH OF THE SOUTH END OF THE CUT, 25.0 M (82.0 FT) SOUTH OF THE NORTH END OF THE CUT, AND 10.1 M (33.1 FT) EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE NORTH BOUND LANES OF THE HIGHWAY. THE MARK IS 0.3 METERS N FROM A WITNESS POST THE MARK IS 0.5 M ABOVE THE HIGHWAY.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
