Had to do some digging. Found the disk in good condition at N39 40.974 W079 02.400

DESCRIBED BY MARYLAND DOT HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION 1992 THE MARKER IS LOCATED ABOUT 6.2 MI (10.0 KM) WEST-NORTHWEST OF FROSTBURG, 6.2 MI (10.0 KM) EAST OF GRANTSVILLE, AND 0.7 MI (1.1 KM) WEST-SOUTHWEST OF ZION CHURCH. IT IS LOCATED ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 68 RIGHT-OF-WAY. TO REACH FROM A POINT WHERE STATE HIGHWAY 546 CROSSES OVER INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 68 AT EXIT NUMBER 29, GO WEST ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 68 FOR 3.85 MI (6.20 KM) TO THE MARKER ON THE RIGHT. THE POINT IS MARKED WITH A MARYLAND STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION SURVEY DISK CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK. IT IS 6.0 FT (1.8 M) NORTH OF A 2.0 FT (0.6 M) DRAINAGE DITCH, 44.0 FT (13.4 M) NORTH OF THE CENTER OF WESTBOUND LANE OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 68, 236.0 FT (71.9 M) WEST OF THE CENTER OF THE BRIDGE WHERE GREEN LANTERN ROAD CROSSES OVER INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 68, AND 4.5 FT (1.4 M) SOUTH OF A CARSONITE WITHESS POST. IT IS ABOUT 1.0 FT (0.3 M) HIGHER THAN THE SURFACE OF THE HIGHWAY.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in April 1995.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
