On a road trip from So. Cal. to Ohio and doing a little caching and benchmarking along the way.
I really wanted to find this one because it is a "Lake Survey" disk which has got to be fairly rare. It sure is if you are from So. California! It looks good in my resume.
Anyway, it is right where the directions say it is and it is in pretty good condition although it is a bit smooth. What could have been rubbing against it enough to do that much wear, I don't know.

This is the north face of the "Island House". The people inside those windows thought that I was some kind of NutBall taking pictures of invisible people on the bench.[:D]

Found as described.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
