The station mark and Reference Marks 2 and 3 were all recovered in good condition. The area of the azimuth mark has been regraded. Reference Mark 2 is at N 41° 18.514 W 082° 58.175. It is 5 inches below the surface of the ground. Reference Mark 3 is at N 41° 18.505 W 082° 58.150.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1956 (RHT) THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE MCPHERSON CEMETERY THAT IS ON THE EAST SIDE OF CLYDE. IT IS 26 FEET SOUTH OF THE CEMETERY DRIVE-WAY, 52 FEET EAST SOUTH EAST OF A LARGE MAPLE TREE AND 71 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF US HIGHWAY 20. THE MARK IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE AND THE DISK IS STAMPED MCPHERSON 1956. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS 5 FEET NORTHEAST OF A MANHOLE, 42 FEET NORTH OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF US HIGHWAY 20 AND 23 FEET EAST NORTHEAST OF A LIGHT POLE. THE MARK IS SET FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE AND THE DISK IS STAMPED MCPHERSON NO 1 1956. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS 38 FEET NORTH OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF US HIGHWAY 20, 40 FEET SOUTH OF A LARGE MAPLE TREE AND 2 FEET NORTH OF CURB. THE MARK IS FLUSH WITH THE SURFACE AND THE DISK IS STAMPED MCPHERSON NO 2 1956. AZIMUTH MARK IS 3.5 FEET WEST OF A WHITE WITNESS POST, 37 FEET SOUTH OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF THE EAST LANE OF US HIGHWAY 20 AND 5.5 FEET WEST OF A HIGHLINE POLE. THE MARK PROJECTS ABOUT 6 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED MCPHERSON 1956. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF US HIGHWAY 20 AND STATE HIGHWAY 510 IN CLYDE, GO EAST ON US HIGHWAY 20 FOR 0.25 MILE TO MCPHERSON CEMETERY AND STATION ON LEFT. CONTINUE EAST ON US HIGHWAY 20 FOR 0.65 MILE TO AZIMUTH MARK ON RIGHT OR SOUTH SIDE OF ROAD. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 27 METERS.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1971 (LFS) THE STATION MARK, REFERENCE MARK 2 AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION. REFERENCE MARK 1 WAS NOT FOUND AND ASSUMED TO HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY UTILITY CONSTRUCTION. REFERENCE MARK 3 WAS SET. THE DIRECTION TO REFERENCE MARK 2 CHECKED BUT THE DISTANCE WAS FOUND TO BE SHORTER BY 0.06 OF A FOOT. A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS- THE STATION IS LOCATED AT THE SOUTH EDGE OF THE MCPHERSON CEMETERY AT THE EAST EDGE OF CLYDE, 26 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF DRIVE ALONG THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE CEMETERY, 71 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 20, 52 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A 48 INCH MAPLE TREE, 83 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A TOMBSTONE (CONNER) AND 1 FOOT SOUTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT IS 2 INCHES UNDERGROUND AND THE DISK IS STAMPED MCPHERSON 1956. (NOTE 1A 7A) TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK FROM THE STATION, GO EASTERLY ON HIGHWAY 20 FOR 0.65 MILE TO THE MARK ON THE RIGHT. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS 38 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 40 FEET SOUTH OF THE MAPLE TREE, 2 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH CURB OF THE HIGHWAY AND 1 FOOT SOUTHEAST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT IS 2 INCHES UNDERGROUND AND THE DISK IS STAMPED MCPHERSON NO 2 1956. REFERENCE MARK 3 IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED MCPHERSON 1956 NO 3 1971, SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE TOP OF THE NORTH CONCRETE CURBING OF THE HIGHWAY, 36 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 32 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A METAL COVER OF A WATER METER AND 15 FEET EAST OF POWER POLE. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS 3-1/2 FEET WEST OF A WOODEN WITNESS POST WITH A WITNESS SIGN ATTACHED, 5 FEET WEST OF A POWER POLE AND 37 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE EAST BOUND LANE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 8 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED MCPHERSON 1956. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 5 METERS.

  • The orthometric height was scaled from a topographic map.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
