Found this benchmark disk while out recovering the clock tower next door. WisDOT updated the description in 2001 to reflect the change in ownership.

I found this one, but the building it is on is now a law office. It used to be the State Bank of Chilton. The Bank is now the next building to the west.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1934 AT CHILTON. AT CHILTON ALONG EAST MAIN STREET AT STATE BANK OF CHILTON, ON WEST SIDE OF MARIA IMMAGULATA CATHOLIC CHURCH. SET VERTICALLY, 3 FEET HIGH IN SOUTH SIDE OF THE SOUTHWEST SANDSTONE CORNER COLUMN, 4 FT WEST OF CENTERLINE OF DOORWAY.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
