Found this in the old road cut by pacing down from the new road fill call. The disk is in good condition.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1961 9.8 MI S FROM NEIHART. 9.8 MILES SOUTH ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 89 FROM NEIHART, CASCADE COUNTY, NEAR THE PEAK OF A HAIRPIN TURN, AT A CUT THROUGH AN OUTCROP OF ROCK IN THE TOP OF THE OUTCROP, 23 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND ABOUT 3-1/2 FEET HIGHER THAN THE CROWN OF THE HIGHWAY. NOTE-- NEIHART POST OFFICE, 9.9 MILES SOUTH ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 89 TO OLD AND NEW HIGHWAY CROSSINGS. 328 FEET EAST NORTHEAST OF CROSSING AND 10 FEET LOWER. 23 FEET SOUTH OF CENTERLINE OF OLD HIGHWAY. IN ROCK LEDGE OUTCROP. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED R 129 1934.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
