DESCRIBED BY MISSOURI RIVER COMMISSION 1937 THE STATION IS IN VALLEY COUNTY ON THE LEFT BANK OF THE MISSOURI RIVER AND IN SECTION 5, T. 23 N., R. 38 E. THE STATION IS 6 MILES NORTH OF NINTH POINT, 3 MILES NORTH OF THE MISSOURI RIVER, 3 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE MAGRUDER HILL RANCH, AND ABOUT 300 FEET NORTHWEST OF PASS USED FOR THE NINTH POINT ROAD. THE STATION IS ON THE SOUTHWEST TIP OF THE HIGH DIVIDE LAND BETWEEN WILLOW CREEK AND THE MISSOURI RIVER AND IS ON THE HIGH BUTTE OVERLOOKING UPPER EIGHTH COULEE, SUTHERLAND CREEK AND THE MISSOURI RIVER. STATION HILL IS HIGHEST GROUND IN THE VICINITY. TO REACH STATION VIA AUTOMOBILE, DRIVE WEST AND NORTHWEST ON HIGHWAY TO GLASGOW TO CROSSROADS OPPOSITE WHITE SCHOOL, ABOUT 5 MILES FROM FORT PECK. TURN LEFT OR WEST AND GO 7 MILES ON GRADED ROAD TO WILLOW CREEK VALLEY, THENCE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST ABOUT 17-3/4 MILES TO FORK IN ROAD. THE RIGHT FORK GOEST TO FARANUF. TAKE LEFT FORK AND GO SOUTH OVER DIVIDE BETWEEN WILLOW CREEK AND THE MISSOURI RIVER THENCE SOUTH TO TOP OF A STEEP GRADE INTO MISSOURI RIVER VALLEY. FROM THIS POINT, PROCEED ON FOOT TO TOP OF BUTTE TO RIGHT OF ROAD AND STATION. MONUMENT IS 5 IN IRON PIPE OF MO. R.C. WHICH HAS BEEN CONCRETED AND REPAIRED. A 4.5 FOOT STAND WITH 14-FOOT TARGETS WILL CLEAR ALL LINES.

TO REACH FROM THE POST OFFICE IN FORT PECK, GO WEST ON STATE HIGHWAY 24 FOR 5.2 MILES TO A DIRT ROAD LEFT AND SIGN READING, THE PINES, TURN LEFT AND GO 20.8 MILES TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD FOR 2.0 MILES TO A FORK JUST AFTER CROSSING BRIDGE, TAKE LEFT FORK AND GO 3.7 MILES TO A WIRE GATE, PASS THROUGH GATE AND GO STRAIGHT AHEAD FOR 0.6 MILE TO A FORK, TAKE RIGHT FORK AND GO 0.8 MILE TO RANCH HOUSE ON RIGHT, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD FOR 0.1 MILE TO A DAM, TURN LEFT JUST AFTER CROSSING DAM AND GO SOUTH-SOUTHEAST ON LEFT SIDE OF RIDGE FOR 1.0 MILE TO A WIRE GATE, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD FOR 2.3 MILES TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON LEFT, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD FOR 0.6 MILE, AND STATION IS ON TOP OF RIDGE ON THE RIGHT.   • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in July 1992.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
