The Henry Hudson has been repaved recently, and there is a concrete barrier along the old stone bridge wall. The mark is likely still there, but buried under the barrier, or paved over. In either case, mark not found.

Found at the end of the day and on a nice walk in this park. I, too, had to clear away leaf litter and soil from the surface of the "walkway" to uncover the mark. There is alot of surface to have to clear to find the mark unless you have a clue- like a white vertical line of paint on the fieldstone wall that indicates where to clear. :D. I didn't do it.

Found as described in good condition.

I was lucky with this one. First off there was a sidewalk over this overpass even though it doesn't connect to anything at either end. You have to climb the embankment to get to it. And there is no fence keeping you out. The sidewalk looks like it hasn't been used in 50 years! Secondly, the description says the mark is 2 ft. east of the end of the concrete sidewalk. Well, the whole sidewalk at this end of the overpass was covered by about 3 inches of debris. It looked like I had a lot of digging to do. So I just plunged in near the end of the stone wall and voilla! success on the first trowel full! If you look for this one, the mark is about 2 ft. west of the end of the stone wall, which is where the metal part of the overpass begins.

View of the overpass from Broadway looking north. Stupidly, I didn't geth the left (west) end of the bridge in the shot, which is where the mark is located. Doh!

View from the top of the embankment showing the old sidewalk covered with debris.

This shows the sidewalk looking across the bridge. As you can see, there is no way to tell where the concrete part begins.

This shows the exposed mark near the stone wall and about 2 ft. from the end of the wall. I should have measured it exactly, sorry!

The mark. Those scratches were not from me!

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
