A DNF... for today. I'll be back.

I did find a "chisled cross" in the top of the cement- looks to have been cut by a narrow gauge circular saw, but no benchmark.

Found as described in good condition.

This is not an easy mark to get to. Looking at a map of the park it might seems you could just hike over to the railroad right-of-way and then go along that to the overpass. In fact the park is huge, overgown and with highways, fences, golf courses etc. criss crossing so you have to bushwhack to find your destination. I would suggest approaching along the old RR r-of-w from the south, go under the overpass, and then scramble up the northeast embankment to get to the highway. Then stay outside the barrier fence for your safety. I went another way - you don't want to know that.

I've added an image of a map available at the park headquarters.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
