The firehouse has been completely renovated with a new façade. The mark, if it still exists, would be covered.

Mark lost and presumed destroyed.

The fire house has undergone an extensive remodel, even since PapaBear documented his visit. This building is even more changed; the doors of the fire truck bays are refigured and there is now only one large opening in the facade replacing the two or three doors, the wheel guards are gone.

Found as described in good condition.

The old fire house is still in use and it seems to be undergoing some renovations. "BOB" in the designation stands for "Borough of Bronx". The chiseled square dates from early in the 20th century. It currently has a rather thick coat of yellow paint.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
