Found in good condition as described. The mark is just to the right of the first entrance along 29th Street. The school is undergoing construction, and is enclosed in a fine meshed black construction netting. I was able to obtain a reasonable picture of the benchmark disk through the netting, but a setting shot would have been impossible.

Found as described in good condition.

This one is to the right of the entrance behind the bushes. If you go up near the door and look behind the branches you'll see it. I apologize for the quality of the picture. It was a tough spot given the location.

AT NEW YORK, IN BOROUGH OF BROOKLYN, AT INTERSECTION OF VOORHIES AVENUE AND EAST 29TH STREET, 32 FEET EAST OF EAST CURB OF EAST 29TH STREET, 50 FEET NORTH OF NORTH CURB OF VOORHIES AVENUE, SET VERTICALLY IN THE WEST FACE OF SHEEPSHEAD BAY SCHOOL BUILDING, 1.3 FEET NORTH OF SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THREE STORY PORTION OF BUILDING AND 3 FEET ABOVE GROUND.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
