Geocache Description:

A very pleasant walk on good paths in the old Merton Park area.

This cache can be found in the area known as a Site of Interest for Nature Conservation just behind the new housing at the end of Rutlish Road or Melbourne Road.

This is a lovely space to walk through, with wild flowers, birds and butterflies and, although it is much smaller now, it still has a charm of its own. One path that runs through this area links to a woodland path that runs down to the Abbey Recreation Ground where you will find a large field and a well used playground.

Abbey Recreation Ground was once within the lands of Merton Place estate owned by Lord Nelson, where he lived from 1801-1805 immediately prior to his death at the Battle of Trafalgar.

The cache itself is approximately 10cms long with a tiny log book – please replace exactly how you found it. Please don't trample the undergrowth - there is no need. Your starting point is knee high if you look in the right place. BYOP.

No pictures of the container please.

Placed with the kind permission of Merton Council.
