Armadni general Alois Liska se narodil 20. 11. 1895 v Zaborci. Spolu s 6 sourozenci vyrustal v drsnem, ale krasnem podhuri Jizerskych hor. I pres chude rodinne pomery absolvoval realne gymnazium v Turnove. Tesne pred I. svetovou valkou slozil v cervnu 1914 maturitni zkousku. Zde jej zastihla mnichovska dohoda a pozdeji i okupace nemeckymi vojsky.
Pres narocne bojove podminky zaznamenala ceskoslovenska brigada pomerne male ztraty a splnila svuj tezky ukol. 9. kvetna 1945 nemecka posadka pod velenim viceadmirala Frisia kapitulovala prave do rukou, tehdy brigadniho generala Aloise Lisky.
V roce 1974 pise svemu priteli Ing. Vlckovi: "Kazdy kamen, kazdy strom na Zaborci bych polibil, kdybych se tam mohl vratit.". Zemrel v Londyne 7. unora 1977.

Brandys - St. Boleslav #13 ( Alois Liska )

Army General Alois Liska was born on 20th November 1895 in Zaborec. Despite a poor family background attended grammar school in Turnov. Just before World War I in June 1914 he passed the graduation exam. In 1915 he was drafted into the Austrian army and deployed on the battlefield. In 1916 on the Russian front, at the first opportunity he defected to the Russian army in the expectation that there will be able to participate actively in the resistance movement. In a POW camp, like many other patriots, volunteered to nascent Czechoslovak legions and the adoption was intended to artillery. He returned in the fall of 1920 with the last transport already to the independent Czechoslovak Republic and as a career officer in the artillery regiment in Stara Boleslav, where he reached the rank of colonel and became commander of the unit. When mobilized in September 1938 was for its high quality-based artillery commander of the 1st fast division. Here he caught the Munich agreement and later occupation by German troops. In 1940 he left his homeland to be tried again for helping a freedom. While fighting in France was appointed commander 1st Artillery Regiment, after the surrender, however, the government was forced to as well as other men to leave the raft and the continent to England. There are again expecting a difficult journey to the mission. First, he became commander of artillery in the 1st Czechoslovak Mixed Brigade and since 1943, when he was promoted to general's rank was cut short as commander of the Czechoslovak Armoured Brigade separately. After the victorious returning to his homeland, however, unfortunately not to everyone's woes end .. happily met his wife and daughter, who returned from concentration camp, but the general's son, Jaroslav and older brother Joseph were at the very end of the war shot, on a death march. He was promoted to division and in 1946 the army general. In 1948, he was like many other officers who attended the resistance on the western front, relieved of his duties, discharged from the army and State Security monitored constantly. He was therefore forced to flee again and the last of the beloved homeland. Without the family, which had to remain in the Czechoslovak Republic, is no longer really live to see freedom of their country. In 1974, he writes your friends Ing. Vlcek: "Every stone, every tree in Zaborec I kissed, I could go back.". He died in London on 7 February 1977. Army General Alois Liska is forever written in history fight for the freedom of our nation. Let us not forget that.
