Geocache Description:

Nostalgia Trip Logo
Nostalgia Trip is a series of five caches not far from the A580, East Lancs Road. As well as a journey through South Lancashire it is also a journey into the past... more specifically the early 80's when I were a lad!

The five caches in the series are:
     Nice Cup of Tea
     Coal Not Dole
     ZX81
     The Adventure Game
When All This Were Just Fields
It is strongly advised to do them in this order. You will need coordinates from the first two caches to find the third and fourth, which in turn contain the coordinates for the final cache.

The co-ordinates on this page are for the suggested parking only, at the Plough Inn. The cache location is next to a footpath in one of the fields nearby. You are looking for a small tupperware container in a camo bag hidden very close to the path.

When you find this cache, don't forget to note down the value of D, which you will need to find the final cache in this series.

The coordinates for the cache are:

N 53°27.(P)
W 2° 33.Q

where Q=(B+285) (you will have found the value of B in Nostalgia Trip:Coal Not Dole)

and P is a number that can be found by adding up the values of the following drogna.

'But what is a drogna', I hear you cry...

Well - a drogna is a coloured piece of plastic bearing one of several coloured shapes. They are used as currency on the planet Arg, which featured on the BBC TV show "The Adventure Game".

The Adventure Game ran from 1980 to 1986. The premise was that three celebrities found themselves on Arg and had to solve a series of puzzles to earn their trip back to Earth. The last of the puzzles each week was a trip across a grid avoiding the fearsome vortex which, if the celebrity stepped into it, meant they had to walk home to earth. This always struck me as a little harsh, but such was the fate that befell Keith Chegwin, Maggie Philbin and Johnny Ball, to name but three.

At some point in each episode the celebrities encountered the currency and had to find out what value each coloured shape represented. It's quite a straightforward system once you figure it out and many of them did, even without the internet to help them.

Everyone is of the opinion that television was best when they were young, and I'm no exception. As well as the Adventure Game there were other intelligent game shows such as Now Get Out of That, as well as quality childrens' serials like The Box of Delights and The Children of Green Knowe - sigh - they don't make them like they used to...

Please note that P is a two digit number, so to use it in your coordinates, place a zero before it. For example, if (P+5) was 35, use 035 in your coordinates.

Well done to Carlos & The Birdie Crew on FTF.
