Geocache Description:

A routine cache in a puzzling location

I read about this the other day and knew immediately that my first cache had to be nearby. Luckily a key SJGP cache was archived (thanks bullit), making room for this cache.

From the cache site, look at the top story of the building to the south housing a well known software company. You'll see four disks that spin every couple of seconds. This is a puzzle that started in August 7, 2006 called the San Jose Semaphore. These discs and the corresponding audio that was broadcast on 1680 AM were part of a challenge to the public. The solution was to be revealed after 10 people have solved it, or one year after it originated. On September 8, 2006, one team submitted the solution. They were the only ones. A PDF file of the solution is now available as well as a decoding report from the pair that solved it.

The cache itself can be logged without solving the puzzle. It's a magnetic key holder in a routine location. Parking is nearby but not right at the cache.
