Geocache Description:

Born in Scone David Douglas, is believed to have attended school in nearby Kinnoull. later to become one of the greatest plant hunters and explorers of America’s northwest.

Through a gardening job on Scone Estate, Douglas’ interest in flowers, trees, birds and animals was encouraged which later led to his first plant collecting expedition to the eastern part of North America.

Douglas introduced many new plants to Britain, including the Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), some of the other most important trees in our countryside and many commonly grown garden plants. He died in the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii) with several versions as to how he met his death - but a fitting memorial to him now stands in the grounds of the old church at Scone.

This short multi takes you to the memorial where you need to answer the following questions, after which a short walk is required to find the cache. Parking is near the church. Please watch your footing near the final cache as there is a warren of rabbit holes.
