Geocache Description:

Wintertime event has been scheduled for Sunday January 22, 2006, between noon and 4pm at the Blackstone River & Canal Heritage State Park. Outdoor activities planned; heated indoor space is available at River Bend Farm Visitor Center. Although all snow has melted and none is forecasted this week, Sunday maybe better weather than most of our spring and fall events.

Great opportunity for beginner as well as seasoned cachers to try out winter searching with their new toys, high tech gifts and/or other equipment. Weather permitting, outdoor activities will include cross country ski course, snowshoeing route and possibly a skate cache. If conditions are good, there be a Snowshoe Demonstration, to try out sizes and styles, as well as asking questions.

Some make their own Team name tags, but blank "my name is" stick ons will be available to help in your meet and greet activities. Refreshments include hot chocolate to complement the bring-a-snack table for which you are welcome to bake or buy, and hot dishes welcome.

TRAVEL BUG exchange table will be availble. To facilitate smooth transfer, please consider posting a note (or will attend) in advance to drop the TBs you will be bringing. Please take no more than one for each one you bring. If you have an extra one to drop, that will allow a newcomer to grab one if they can help it along. There will be a TB Sign In/Out sheet, so please sign them in and out. Wwe use this for answering any questions that arise during the week to follow. Log TBs out on website as soon as you can, but do allow some time if they were not dropped early.

CACHE ITEM exchange will be a Remember the PATRIOTS (better luck next year) swap. In the spirit of the season (Winter, Football plyoffs, after Xmas or geoAnytime), you are invited to bring any type of trade items (with value about $5) either gift wrapped or not. At about 3pm, we will start drawing one name at a time for someone who is in the room to pick out an item, then pick the next name. We will continue this until all items are picked. If someone is still out on the trail, there name will be returned to the basket. If you must leave early, something will be arranged. Keep it simple, make it fun.
