Vrchy Ostaš a Hejda leží mezi mesty Teplice nad Metují a Police nad Metují. Ostaš je typickou stolovou horou, vysokou 700 metru. Údolím Klucanky je Ostaš oddelen od sousedního nižšího kopce Hejdy.
Geologie oblasti je tvorena odolnými kremennými kvádrovými pískovci svrchneturonského až coniackého stárí. V jejich podloží pak leží spodnoturonské slínovce. Skalní veže, oddelené od hlavního nloku, jsou nakloneny ven a postupne se rítí a mení v nakupení obrovských skalních bloku.
Hejda je menším bratrem Ostaše. Na rozdíl od Ostaše je naštestí turisticky neobjevená, nejsou zde turistické cesty a ani v nejvyšší sezóne zde pravdepodobne nikoho nepotkáte. Presto stejne jako Ostaš nabízí krásu pískovcového bludište i samostatných skalních veží stejne jako výhledy na Krkonoše, krajinu Broumovska a Náchodska a sousední oblast Skály.
Když jsme ukládali kešku, pobíhali kolem nás srnky. Jsou zde také divocáci a roste tu vetšinou spousta hub.
Ke kešce se dá vydrápat odkudkoli, ale vhledem k ochrane nejen prírody doporucujeme postupovat podle dále uvedených bodu, kdy se v podstate až ke kešce dostanete po pohodových lesních cestách.
Východištem je križovatka lesních a polních cest (WP Start: N50° 34,3734’ E16° 11.3206’). Dále pak podél kraje lesa ke križovatce (WP crossing 1: N50° 34,2194’ E16° 11.4629’). Na križovatce doleva do lesa a po pár set metrech (WP crossing 2: N50° 34,4097’ E16° 11.6740’) odbocíme opet doleva, kde byla v dobe ukládání kešky vyjetá cesta od traktoru, zrejme po težbe.
Samotná keška je pár metru od skalní hrany, kde je rada parádních vyhlídek.
Pri hledání kešky, nebo budete-li chtít prozkoumat zdejší bludište, mejte také na mysli, že se nacházíte v krajine obrovské hodnoty a podle toho je treba se chovat, a to jak ve smyslu ochrany prírody, tak i sebe.

Hills Ostaš and Hejda are situated between Teplice nad Metují and Police nad Metují towns. Ostaš is a typical table hill 700m of height. Ostaš is separated off neighboring lower hill Hejda by Klucanka valley.
Geology of the area is based on a resistant silica block sandstones of Turonian and Coniac age. Subsoil is formed of Turonian marlstones. Rock towers, separated off main blocks, are tilted out, coming down gradually and transforming in accumulations of huge rock blocks.
Hejda is smaller brother of Ostaš. Unlike Ostaš Hejda is not really tourist destination, there are no tourist signs and you will not meet anybody when high season even. For all that Hejda offers (like Ostaš) beauties of sandstone labyrinths, alone standing towers and overlooks of Giant Mountains, country of Broumov and neighboring locality Skály.
When hiding the cache there were does running around. There are wild swines and flocks of mushrooms as well.
One can scramble to the cache from anywhere, but according to protection not only of nature following waypoints is highly recommended (you can approach the cache taking wood paths only).
Starting waypoint (WP Start: N50° 34,3734’ E16° 11.3206’) is a crossing of wood and field paths. Then follow the edge of the forest right to the next crossing (WP crossing 1: N50° 34,2194’ E16° 11.4629’). Then take left to the forest and after some hundreds of meters (WP crossing 2: N50° 34,4097’ E16° 11.6740’) take left again (there was an unpaved path – tractor track likely after wood production – in the time of the cache hiding).
The cache is few meters off the rock face edge with range of great panorama views.
Seeking the cache, or exploring local rock labyrinth, keep on your mind the fact you are in the country of immense value and it should affect one’s behavior and attitude, in the sense of both nature and one’s protection.
