This cemetery sits across from what used to be the summer parish for St.Columbanus Catholic Church before it was turned into a private home. This unusually named cemetery commemorates "The Twenty Six Martyrs of Japan” and the beginning of Christianity in Japan. In 1597, 26 Christians including 6 European Franciscan Missionaries, 3 Japanese Jesuits and 17 Japanese laymen were executed by crucifixion at Nagasaki, Japan.
This site is special to me for the memories of summer mass times with my family, but also because it was my 3rd geocache find with my mom ferdandbun in a previous incarnation. Thank you to DeltaY for passing this along to me.
