This is one of 36 Girl Scout geocaches that will be placed in Nassau County representing the 36 Girl Scout Councils in the county.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a girl can earn in Girl Scouting. For my own Gold Award, I thought it would be a great idea to use geocaching to showcase other girl's Gold Awards.
In 2006, Leann Staines, from the Elmont Association, earned her Gold Award by instructing different Girl Scout troops how to send care packages and letters to soldiers overseas.
Please note that over the years, the requirements to earn this award have changed.
