Geocache Description:

This treasure hunt will lead you into a forest through a tale where spirits turn leaves back to the distant past, when our ancestors used to sit around campfires and tell stories. The best were handed down all the way to us.

Over two hundred years ago lived a man named Ollie Debonair. Everyday he walked to the nearby pond to visit his secret girlfriend Sirena. Sirena was a beautiful mermaid. Ollie adored her but never told anyone of her existence. The pond where they met each day is now known as the Debonair Pond (see photo). Some claim to have seen her apparition while swimming in the pond.

How did we learn about the details of this story? Well in the mid-70's, Ollie's diary was discovered by a young lad by the name of JP Gosselin. He found it in a small chest buried on his family's property. One insert from the diary was Ollie describing Sirena. It read:
“Such a gorgeous creature she was. The essence of her inner and outer beauty radiates through her dark brown eyes. This amazing creation can calm cries of sorrow with a little hug and ease pain with a simple kiss. Of all God's creations... this is by far the best! “

Even with Ollie's diary no one believed his story until the body of a mummified mermaid was exhumed in the early 80's. The body was brought to a Winnipeg lab for examination then brought back to her grave where she lies today (see photo). You will see her grave site on this hunt. There is a tree not far from Sirena's grave that comes alive from time to time. This is the tree with a face on it. Some believe it is the spirit of Ollie.

This property is now owned by JP Gosselin and his wife Agnes where they own and operate Debonair Campground.

There is a field access driveway close to the Cache but is covered with snow in winter. If snow is deep, this hunt is not recommended. Terrain is rough with potholes, deadfall, logs and branches. Watch your every step. The hint is "key" to success.

Please hide the cache and key as you found it. Thanks!

Congratulations to Pirates of the Prairies! He was the FTF and received the FTF Certificate and Debonair Military Cap (see photo).

Enjoy!
