Up this road when this was nothing more than a trail, many wild buffalos, Indians, Colonial troops including George Washington passed on their way from the Patterson Creek valley to the Potomac River drainage thru this gap in Knobley Mountain. Visit Stewarts Tavern in nearby Short Gap. It dates back the the late 1700's
