The road is in generally good condition and open to all vehicles. However it always pays to check with the Roads Department for updates on road conditions in case of localised flooding.
Kingoonya is a town that has had a varied history. A town that once was, was not and now is! Kingoonya began life as a Railway support town in 1915 and with the advent of finding abundant, high quality underground water it soon became an important place for the steam trains to re-fill.
Kingoonya also benefited from being on the Stuart Highway, the road that links North and South. However when the Highway was shifted about 40 kilometres east in the 1990s, the town suffered badly, especially when the Liquor licence was also removed to Glendambo.
This once busy town, now needs a lift & here it is.
