The GREAT MOSS LAKE
The great and the small moss lakes are lakes of peat
in the National Natural Reserve Rejvíz that is
located
720 to 770 metres above the sea
level. The
uniqueness of this place is given by its geological history and
climate
. The
average yearly temperature is
5.6 °C. The summer is
very short – only 15 days a year (the average day temperature over
15 °C). The winter lasts for about 4 months with average daily
temperature under 0 °C. And as the whole area is very cold, it is
also very rich of rainfall (yearly amount is 1400 mm while two
thirds fall in the vegetation period). This makes it apparent
that
Rejvíz and its climatic conditions are not very different from
areas in the most northern parts of our planet – the real
tundra.
Rejvíz peat lakes are of the distribution moor type. They were
created 6 to 7 thousand years ago thanks to the suitable
configuration of terrain that provides enough of water retention on
its impermeable bottom layer. The original spruce forrest had died
because of the strong waterlooging and it was eventually replaced
by the pitch pine woods that grow up to 15 meters with maximum age
of 200 years. At the same time, there was another intensive growth
of the moss and creation of peat. The lakes are also called blanks
and their strongly watterlogged edges are called
laggs.
The great moss lake can be found in the middle of west core of the
peatery. The layer of the peat is 300 cm thick here. A small
carnivorous plant called round-leaved sundew can be found here. And
there are also many rare types of animals here. The recent
researches found that the Rejvíz peatery belongs to one of the
richest sanctuary of spiders. Northeast of the Great Moss Lake,
there is the Small Moss Lake but that has been overgrown and is no
longer accessible for public.
To
help the public learn about this location, the Management of CHKO
Jeseníky (Protected natural area) opened a new nature trail leading
in the middle of the reserve. The trail is 2.2 km long and has 5
stops with graphic and texts on the main phenomena of the
locality.

VELKE MECHOVE JEZIRKO
Velke a male mechove jezirko jsou raselinna jezirka v Narodni
prirodni rezervci Rejviz,
ktera je rozlozena v nadmorske vysce 720 az 770 m
.
Unikatnost
prirody teto rezervace je podminena geologickou minulosti a
klimatem.
Prumerna rocni
teplota je 5,6 °C. Leto je velmi kratke - pouhych 15 dnu (prumerna
denni teplota nad 15 °C). Zima trva plne ctyri mesice s prumernou
denni teplotou nizsi nez 0 °C. A jak je cele uzemi chladne, tak je
soucasne bohate na srazky (rocni uhrn 1400 mm, pricemz 2/3 mnozstvi
spadnou v obdobi
vegetace).
Z uvedeneho je patrne, ze Rejviz se svymi
klimatickymi podminkami nijak nelisi od mist rozprostirajicich se v
severnejsich zemepisnych sirkach - v oblastech pravych
tunder.
Rejvizske raseliniste patri k typu rozvodnicoveho vrchoviste.
Vzniklo pred 6 - 7 tisici lety diky vhodne konfiguraci terenu,
ktery umoznuje dostatecne nadrzovani vody na nepropustnem podlozi,
cimz byly dany zakladni podminky pro vznik raseliniste. Puvodni
smrkovy les vlivem silneho zamokreni odumrel a byl postupne
nahrazen porosty borovice blatky. ktera dorusta do vysky 15 m pri
stari maximalne do 200 let. Soucasne doslo v dalsim vyvoji k
intenzivnimu rustu raseliniku a tvorbe raseliny. Raselinna jezirka
se nazyvaji blanky a jejich silne zamokrele okraje -
lagg.
Velke mechove jezirko se nachazi ve stredu zapadniho jadra
raseliniste. Vrstva raseliny zde dosahuje vysky 300 cm. Vyskytuje
se zde drobna masozrava rosnatka okrouhlolista. Krome rostlin zde
maji utociste i vzacne druhy zivocichu. Az vyzkumy z posledni doby
prokazaly, ze rejvizske raseliniste patri mezi nejbohatsi ve
vyskytu neprilis oblibene skupiny zivocichu - pavouku.
Severovychodne od Velkeho jezirka lezi Male mechove jezirko, ktere
jiz dnes zcela zarostlo a je verejnosti
nepristupne.
Pro
seznameni s touto lokalitou a pouceni verejnosti byla v roce 1970
Spravou CHKO Jeseniky otevrena naucna stezka do stredu rezervace.
Na trase 2,2 km je 5 zastaveni s nazornymi texty o hlavnich
fenomenech lokality.
Vydejme
se tedy spolecne na prochazku k Velkemu mechovemu
jezirku…
