It will soon be time to get out of the
cabin and join us for a day of fellowshipping, telling stories, and
having a fun time. We will have the same facilities as last year at
Grant shelter in Jefferson Barracks Park. It can accommodate 350
people, includes 25 tables, over 200 chairs, a fireplace, double
large BBQ pit outside, and overhead heaters.

Who: Everyone! This will be a
potluck so bring a dish to share. Bring your own drinks as well.

And a few more
details about the shelter:
- The place is
heated
- The county will
furnish firewood for the fireplace
- Plenty of
electricity
- Restrooms in the
shelter
- Water available and
a "slop" sink but no kitchen.
Last year we had a lot of activities going on,
such as the TB race, TB table, auction items, everything is $3
table, geo bingo, coin table, etc. This was a lot of work for the
volunteers who set up and manned the tables or managed the
activity. Hopefully we can do those things again and even other
activities. The new SLAGA coins should also be available here. All
it takes are some ideas and a little help. Let me know if you'd
like to help out with anything and/or have ideas for
activities.
Last year there was a mixup and the shelter was
rented out for an evening event. Back in January of this year
Ranger Shaun Dultz procurred the shelter again for us and
guaranteed we would have it all day. This means we have to setup
the tables and chairs AND take them all down at the end of the
day.
We look forward to getting together again
this winter and talking about caches we have done, caches we
want to find, and swapping stories of caching experiences.
There are several caches in the park but there is nothing
planned as far as group hunts. We would like to focus on
fellowship and getting to know each other and the many new
cachers.
This is also a good opportunity to invite
local land managers that you have personally worked with. Have
them come out for some food and friendship and get to know
some of the cachers in the area. As before, several of the St.
Louis County Park rangers have already accepted our
invitation. Please contact your local land manager or parks
department and invite them to come out. It is our appreciation
for letting us play in their parks.
